Love is in the Air!!!!

Recently I have been out and about taking care of some business. Its been mainly work but, there has been a lot of other things happening too. Usually, being a single woman I am not looking for anything except maybe a friendship. However, ladies it never hurts to chat and get to know people. I went to the store and I noticed what I like to call, "eye candy." As a single adult it is always good to mix and mingle. Theirs nothing wrong with being in a relationship, please don't get me wrong...but I am definitely in no rush for it. I really have to say I enjoy my freedom, and of course meeting and greeting the beautiful men of South Florida. I feel like my age purports me to be single, sexy, and free. I know that at one point in my life I am going to have to settle down with someone for the rest of life, and that time I know will come, that's why I am in no rush and that's why I am just having fun.

But, anyhow this guy has caught my eye more than one time. He seems extremely sweet, smart, and the personality seems to match what I am looking for. However, I take my time because I always try to make sure that the person has more than a few qualities that I am looking for, and this we all know that takes time. The next time I see him, I will approach him and of course we'll exchange phone numbers, but the more important lesson to my single ladies and men...is to not put all your eggs in one basket. Remember being single is about meeting and greeting...so you should always have a back up plan. Perhaps he/she is not as cool as you thought, however someone else might be.

Dating can be extremely beneficial because throughout dating you learn who you are, what you want from another person, and most importantly you start to understand yourself. I am encouraging my single ladies and single men, to go out this memorial weekend and get ready to mingle. Get a number, meet up for drinks, and go out to dance. There is only one time when you get to have this much freedom, and the time is now!!! Talk, text, flirt, and have fun...and always keep it safe.

The Beautiful Age of *23*

If you would have told me last year that I would of had this much fun at 23 I would not have believed you. When I was 22 I didn't want to advance to 23, same thing when I was 21. However, as I get older I realize that with age I only get wiser. I used to make some crazy decisions, bad choices, and pick the wrong people to date. Being 23 has been great, I have learned that the greatest love in life is that from my spiritual father, and the true love of myself  before anyone else. I have learned so much about myself, so much about life, I couldn't be happier with the growth I have accomplished.

Moreover, I have accomplished recieving my degree also. I think it was the greatest achievement I could have acquired, my fours years of college taught me, time management, dedication in all that I do, and of course how to communicate with a wide range of people from different diverse backgrounds. As I prepare to take my next big step in my life, which is getting a job and obtaining my master's degree, I am excited, I am ready, and look forward to my future. I believe that when I turn 24 this year I will be even more happy to have successfully made it to another year. I used to have a problem with getting older, but then I started to realize that the older you get, the more you know, the smarter choices you make, and you definitely should learn more about yourself.

Age is a powerful thing, imagine my life 23 years ago, starting in the womb, being an infant learning about life, to a child in school learning the basics, and finally becoming a woman, who knows what I want in life, knows where I want to go, and making changes everyday. I can not take credit for what I have learned, what I have gained out of life or anything, I give the credit to the man above, for working with me 365 days a year, every minute, and every hour. Everyday spent here I realize how great it is to have this beautiful life. To wake up one more day, to get older, the beauty in the older generations, this is all so wonderful. When your young you wish you could always stay young and vital for the rest of your life, but I realize that a life is worth aging, seeing the people around you grow, seeing yourself grow, and seeing change. The greatest gift about life is that everyday is different from the previous day, and everything changes. Change is beautiful, aging is wonderful, just remember with age the wise are born...Finally I am happy to be here, and to have led life for 23 years....I am thankful.

Sleeping 101

Can't get Sleep?
Have you ever been in the bed, and all you can do is think about what your going to do tomorrow? It seems as if I always have so many great ideas that I come up with at night, I have always wondered why that is. I have decided that before I go to sleep I should try to clear my thoughts out so that I can have a good night's rest. Sleeping is such an important part of life, during the years of college it seems as if we lose so much sleep when pulling the "all-nighters" studying for that big test the next day. Sleeping has so many benefits that we take for granted everyday. Have you ever noticed that when you get a good night's sleep sometimes you wake up feeling more exhausted? I think the main reason for that is because the body still needs rest. Rest is essential to the human body, the more you get the better you feel. Sometimes you wake up groggy because you may have had a restless night of sleep, but there are a few tips to ensure that you get the most effective night of sleep.

  • Step 1: Turn the AC down a couple of degrees lower, the colder you are the better you sleep.
  • Step 2: Try a pillow mist that has lavender in it, the lavender oil calms the body and relaxes you in the mood for rest.
  • Step 3: Drink a warm glass of milk; do you remember your mom always used to give you cookies and milk before you go to sleep? Well the reasoning behind that is because milk and sugar have a tendency to make you tired.
  • Step 4: Write all your thoughts down before you go to sleep to clear your mind.
  • Step 5: Get an eye mask for when you sleep, you can be assured that with your eyes covered you will sleep like a baby with no interruptions.
After all these steps you can rest assured that you will wake in the morning looking and feeling like a new person!

The Single Life in Sunny South Florida

Being "Single" in South Florida is amazing. Many women and men find it hard to be single in such a beautiful place. We are all looking for Mr. or Mrs. Right, the one to spend the rest of our lives with. However, I have come to realize that being at the age of 23, now is the perfect time to be single. I am exploring myself, and what I like about myself. It is so important because when you have no clue who you are or what you want, you find yourself looking for love in all the wrong places. This has happened to me in my past relationships, I hadn't worked on myself enough, and just went out looking for love. I learned a very important lesson, never to look, never to want. A wise man once told me, "That the women who wants everything gets nothing, and the women who wants nothing gets everything." I guess what this means is that we as women want a man to do all the things a man should do, but we commonly bypass ourselves. I think the key to success with being single is learning to love oneself.

Even when you are not single and in a relationship, you must never lose sight of yourself and what you want. I have commonly heard people say that they cannot be without a person, the truth is if you cannot live without someone then something is wrong. I think the relationship is more of an obsession then it is real love. I can be obsessed with shoes, clothes, anything material, but when you talk about love it is different. Love in a relationship comes first from loving yourself, if your significant other left you for a year, would you make it? Of course I'd like to think you would, because when someone leaves for that long, it means its time for you to work on yourself. Explore yourself, do something you like to do, hang out with some old freinds, and do what you love to do. Being single is a great thing, it is a time to meet new people, have new friends, and explore who you really are, go to South Beach, pick up a good book, travel to a new place...Live life, love life, and take care of yourself first.

Getting in Shape for the Ultimate Beach Body

Ohhh my, its the summer time! It's time for the bathing suits, short shorts, linen pants, and tube tops. However, before we start wearing those clothes we must hit the gym first if we want to show off our all good sides. Here's my suggestion get a friend, or a person who you know can motivate you and go to the gym! When you go to the gym bring a picture of the beach bod you want to achieve and keep it with you as your inspiration. It doesn't hurt to buy a sexy workout outfit, you may not be trying to impress anyone, but by feeling good about yourself, you will be more amped to do work. Anything is possible, and if this doesn't work contact me for a inspirational, motivational, workout class you won't want to miss!

Healthy Dinner Plates for You and Others

As a women it is important to be able to cook. As I look at myself, I started to realize something, the saying that my mom used to say was right, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach." Being a single lady who dates, I never really had to cook for anyone, but recently I decided I should get more in tune with my cooking style. And to my surprise I started cooking, and really liked it. I have always shyed away from being in the kitchen, my sisters would always say, "Girl you need to get in the kitchen! I was like, "No I think I will pass." Recently, I have been exploring cooking and new options for daily meals. That's when I really wanted to get involved in cooking, I made a dish the other day, that everybody loved. It never felt so good to cook for everyone, and then the feedback I got was great. So then I decided why not cook regularly? I mean it's so much fun when you get creative and come up with new dishes. A guy I was dating asked me, "Do you know how to cook?" And boy was I so happy to tell him, "Of course, and one day you should have dinner with me, and guess what its all on me!" So I have a dinner date, in which I will be cooking for him, and any one else who wants a taste of this good ole'cooking.

So ladies what I am trying to say is, get in the kitchen and don't be shy. Start off with something easy, like making a pot of rice, seasoning some tilapia fish(always easy to make) and vegetables. Once you finish that you can bake a cake from scratch or make one from the box...whatever you do make it pretty and make sure it tastes good. And I promise you, you will only get better, and your date, boyfriend, girlfriend, and or friends will love you. Step one is to take a easy recipe and get started, who knows you might be the next Emeril Lagasse! And don't forget the strawberries and chocolate!!!

***Fashion Forward****

Fashion this summer is going to be big! If your a women you have to be in the right colors this summer. I have seen some women when I go out who are really taking charge with bold colors. The best colors to wear this summer have to be the bright oranges, yellows, pinks, and of course white! However, one thing you do not want to do is put to many colors on, its best to stay simple, rock a sundress with a flower print, or maybe a nice tube top with some white linen pants. One thing that will not be attractive this summer is too short shorts, when you wear shorts its all about taste, leave a little to the imagination. High-waisted shorts, or denim shorts could do the trick. For men, you have to also pay attention to fashion this summer. Women are looking for the well-dressed fitted look. Perhaps a nice polo with some shorts and nice flip-flops. For guys go for the relaxed look, and don't over do it, remember less is more. Some of the hottest looks for this summer can be achieved at low prices, check your local Ross, Macy's or JCPenny's for these simple sexy looks.
